Japan’s Line enlists K-pop to lend glamour to news drive in Hong Kong, where WhatsApp is king


Messaging app operator Line has created a big following in Asia with its popular line of mascot characters, which includes Cony the rabbit and Brown the bear. The Tokyo-based company is now betting that it can attract more users in Hong Kong, where Facebook’s WhatsApp is dominant, by offering news.
